Twenty-six municipalities received financial aid from the Iloilo Provincial Government for the purchase of equipment to upgrade their disaster risk response and management efforts.

Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr. led the distribution of checks totalling P46 million today at the Casa Real de Iloilo. He was assisted by Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office chief Cornelio Salinas and Provincial Administrator Raul Banias.

The aid was received by the municipal mayors, municipal disaster risk reduction officers, and municipal treasurers.

The Iloilo Provincial Government has been exerting efforts to implement the Government Energy Management Program (GEMP) as expressed under Republic Act No. 11285 otherwise known as the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Act, which is an act institutionalizing energy efficiency and conservation, enhancing the efficient use of energy, and granting incentives to EE&C Projects.

Provincial Administrator Raul Banias and Local Economic Development and Investment Promotions Office head Aulynn Yue Sin assisted Gov. Defensor in welcoming the Chinese diplomat and his companions.

In his talk with the Ambassador, Gov. Defensor cited the historic relationship and partnership between China and the Philippines and its people.

The Chinese Ambassador is in Iloilo City for various activities together with the Filipino-Chinese community.

The Galing Pook Foundation officially turned over the Galing Pook Award Marker to the province of Iloilo for successfully implementing the Zero Open Defecation program.

Galing Pook Foundation Chairperson Mel Senen Sarmiento led the ceremony on February 28, 2024, at SM City Iloilo together with SM Prime Holdings Consultant for Disaster Risk Resilience Alexander Pama who is also an Ilonggo.

Governor Arthur Defensor, Jr. administers the oath of office of Ms. Honey Beso who was promoted to the position of Director for Central-Southern Luzon and MIMAROPA Museums of the National Museum of the Philippines.

Beso was the former Supervising Administrative Officer of the Western Visayas Regional Museum.

The Iloilo Provincial Government, with the Green Forum Panay Guimaras, Inc. (GFPG), Responsible Ilonggos for Sustainable Energy (RISE), Tara Climate Foundation, USAID – EKEW (CPU), and the Department of Energy (DOE) conducted a Conference on Decentralized Renewable Energy Systems (DRES) to promote Renewable Energy as one solution to the power crisis of Panay Island.

Provincial Administrator Raul Banias, on behalf of Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr., released checks amounting to P10,000 each to four distressed Ilonggo OFWs under the Financial Assistance to Repatriated Overseas Filipino Workers (PESO FAR-OFW) implemented by the Public Employment Service Office.

Banias was joined by PESO Senior Labor Employment Officer Cynthia Dario in distributing the checks to the beneficiaries from Banate, Concepcion, Dumangas, and Sara.

LOOK: Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr. turned over two checks worth P3.3 million and P443,978 to Barangay Poblacion in the municipality of Leon intended for the construction of the new barangay hall and rehabilitation of farm-to-market road of Sitio Miac-ac.

The group is having a capability-building seminar for the 219 barangay captains of Romblon from February 27-29, 2024 here in Iloilo City.
