A Resolution of Commendation passed by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan was presented to the members of the Iloilo Provincial Bantay Dagat Task Force (IPBDTF) during the flag-raising ceremony today.
Second District Board Member June Mondejar sponsored Resolution No. 2024-291 known as a resolution commending the IPBDTF its support to eliminate illegal fishing and to restore and rehabilitate the marine ecosystem in the Province of Iloilo.
The SP cited that the IPBDTF successfully conducted 24 apprehensions of individuals engaged in illegal fishing from December 2023 to March 2024, particularly in the municipal waters of Carles, San Dionio and Concepcion which is part of the Visayan Sea.
Governor Arthur Defensor thanked and congratulated the civilian and uniformed members of the IPBDTF for a job well done.
He, however, noted that the job of the IPBDTF is more than just the apprehension of illegal fishers. More importantly, Gov. Defensor said, the operation is for the protection of the Visayan Sea which is one of the richest fishing grounds in the country.
Gov. Defensor noted that his administration is currently working towards making the inter-operationability of the IPBDTF with the Provincial Civil Defense Service Operation Center (ProCid Serve OpCen), the local government units, Philippine National Police and other partners in the campaign for the protection of the Visayan Sea.
IPBDTF is being supervised by Provincial Administrator Raul Banias and by the Provincial Agriculture Office.
Second District Board Member Rolito Cajilig represented the SP in the presentation of the Resolution.
