Gov. Arthur Defensor, Sr. attends the meeting of the League of the Municipalities of the Philippines (LMP) - Iloilo Chapter held at Days Hotel, Iloilo City on Friday, June 30, 2017 where among the things tackled was the creation of a Joint Provincial Task Force on Peace and Security. “Words are not enough to express how grateful we are to Koica and the Republic of Korea,” said Gov. Defensor.
Koica country director Shin Myung Seop, program director Prof. Dongwoon Han and representatives from Medipeace, a non-government organization based in South Korea, along with the chief of hospitals and other medical personnel attended the simple occasion held at Casa Real.
The Governor was assisted by OIC Provincial Administrator Dennis Ventilacion and PENRO officer-in-charge Atty. Arturo Cangrejo. Each municipality received the amount of P100,000. The recipients LGUS were: Guimbal, Igbaras, Miag-ao , San Joaquin, Tigbauan, Alimodian, Leganes, Leon, San Miguel, Calinog, Janiuay, Maasin, Anilao, Barotac Nuevo, Dingle, Balasan, Btc. Viejo, Batad, Carles, San Rafael, Estancia, Lemery and San Dionisio.
The projects that were inaugurated were the Barangay Tumay covered court (P1.3 million), Food Terminal (P1.5 million) at Mina Public Market, Barangay Abat concrete road (P2.9 million) and Barangay Bangac concrete road (P1.9 million). Said projects were funded by Rep. Defensor under the Lower House Infrastructure Project.
Two projects, on the other hand, were inaugurated at Mina National High School (MNHS), namely, Home Economics building (P3 million) and Flag raising area (P2 million). Gov. Defensor provided funds for the said projects.
The general managers of the three electric cooperatives, namely, Rhea Palacios (Ileco I), Redmond Roquios (Ileco II) and Consorcia Peñaranda (Ileco III) along with some of their department heads attended the meeting called by the governor.

Five cooperatives became recipients of the Provincial Livelihood Project Fund (PLPF) under the Provincial Cooperative Development Office (PCDO) with a total amount of P4.2 milion that was released by Gov. Arthur Defensor, Sr. on Thursday, June 1, 2017. The cooperatives are: Kooperatiba Naton MPC (Tigbauan) - P1 million; Pinili Development Cooperative (New Lucena) - P1 million; Metro Dumangas MPC (Dumangas) - P1 million; Lambunao Government Employees MPC (Lambunao) - P1 million; and Miag-ao Farmers & Vendors Consumers Coop (Miag-ao) - P200,000.
