Capitol to save P1.3M using IP telephony

ILOILO – Taking advantage of the latest technology, the provincial government will subscribe to a system that will help reduce the telephone cost of offices situated in the Iloilo Provincial Capitol.

The project refers to the internet protocol telephony communication system which the Information Communication Technology Management Office (ICTMO) procured from the Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company to a tune of P1.7-million.

ILOILO – Through its rural enterprise component known as I-REAP, World Bank-assisted Philippine Rural Development Project (PRDP) has accepted to finance the P3.4-million business proposals of four farmers associations here.

Among these approved business ventures involve the goat production for sustainable livelihood (P990,000 ) of Inagdangan Norte and Sur Farmers Association in Zarraga and the swine fattening project (P500,000) of Iloco Farmers Association in San Rafael.

About 2,000 local job vacancies and 1,000 job orders abroad are up for grabs in today’s job fair in Robinsons Galleria Jaro.

Organized by Public Employment Service Office of the Province of Iloilo, the job fair is held in partnership with ABS-CBN in relation to the 30th anniversary celebration of their long-running Filipino newscast – TV Patrol.

Governor Arthur Defensor, Sr. turns over 18 sets of equipment for the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team of the Iloilo Provincial Police Office (IPPO) consisting of bullet proof vests, ballistic shields and Kevlar helmets to IPPO director Senior Supt. Harold Tuzon (left) on Thursday, April 6, 2017. The equipment were procured through competitive bidding from the budget of the Provincial Peace and Order Council. Provincial Administrator Raul Banias said the council is also considering the request for additional equipment including a sniper rifle.

Governor Arthur Defensor, Sr. and Estancia Mayor Rene Cordero cut the ribbon to officially open the Teen Hive teen center in Estancia National High School (ENHS) last March 31, 2017. Teen Hive is the 45th multi-purpose teen center established in major secondary schools in the province. Assisting them in the ribbon-cutting were Provincial Population Office (PPO) chief Ramon Yee and ENHS principal Marilyn Dolendo.

Sixty-one Iskolar sang Iloilo recipients are graduating this year. Four of them are Magna Cum Laude graduates while 16 others obtained Magna Cum Laude honors. Governor Arthur Defensor, Sr. said the provincial scholars will be given fitting recognition during the Testimonial Luncheon for the 116th Foundation Anniversary of Iloilo province on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at Casa Real de Iloilo.

Iloilo SWAT gets P1.4M logistic boost

ILOILO – Governor Arthur D. Defensor Sr. provided P1.4-million worth of ballistic equipment to enhance the capability of the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) of the Iloilo Provincial Police Office on Thursday (April 6).

Using its peace and order fund, a level three ballistic shield, tactical carrier vests and ballistic helmets were purchased for 18-member SWAT Team so they could be in full battle gear if they would respond to any reports on kidnapping or bomb threats.

Iloilo invests P16.4M in rainwater harvesting facilities

ILOILO – To avoid wastage of rainwater during rainy days, the provincial government will embark on a massive construction of rainwater harvesting facilities in water constraint villages here this year.

The P16.4-million project involves the construction of 25 rainwater harvesting systems in special areas and 42 ferrocement tanks in public schools, according to the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO).
